Toyota New Zealand is recalling 177 Toyota Prius v hybrid cars because of a possible fault with their software settings. Toyota says the recall is due to "the current software settings for the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU which could result in higher thermal stress in certain transistors of the power converter (DC-AC invertor), potentially causing them to become damaged".
The vehicles being recalled were manufactured between September 2010 and November 2014.
What to do
- Toyota will trace owners of the cars through registration data and contact them.
- Toyota dealers will update the software, which takes about an hour.
