Shorts, pants and jeans may contain carcinogenic dyes.
A recall has been issued for women’s skinny jeans sold at Cotton On and some men’s pants and shorts bought from online store The Iconic because they may contain a cancer-causing dye.
Cotton On is recalling Elly Skinny Jeans in dark blue as the dye may contain azo-colourants. The recall notice explains azo-colourants are classified as carcinogens and exposure to the dye should be minimised.
The style number is 238485-06 and P/O number 145147. These can be found on the reverse side of the care label. The jeans were sold between August 2014 and June 2015.
The Iconic is recalling 7 pairs of men’s pants and shorts because the dye used in the pocket linings may also contain azo-colourants.
The recall is for Mody Chinos in French navy (ST892AA20NQP), sapphire (ST892AA24NQL), tan (ST892AA25NQK), ox blood (ST892AA29OLM) and navy (ST892AA83FVG) and Mody Chino Shorts in ox blood (ST892AA85KVY) and navy (ST892AA86KVX).
Anyone with these items of clothing should stop wearing them. The Cotton On jeans can be returned to the store or call 0800 452 885 for more information. The Iconic customers need to call 0800 449 370. Both stores will give full refunds.
