Review

This is the best-performing dehumidifier we’ve tested. Innovative “desiccant” technology makes it exceptionally good at removing moisture from the air. It also produces as much heat as a small fan heater. The catch is the GD330 costs three times as much to run as conventional models which use refrigerant technology. The water tank is also a bit on the small side.

Note: We’ve heard from a few members who’ve had water leaking from this model. The problem arises because the hole in the water tank is small and has to line up with the drain hole. We recommend that you make sure the water tank is fully inserted into the dehumidifier. If problems persist, you could fit a plastic tube between the water outlet and tank, or increase the size of the hole on the water tank.

How we test

Note: Due to ongoing testing at the time of print, the test results published in our June/July magazine are from 2017. New 2018 test results are available online.

Overall score includes:

Water removal (60%): Rated across a range of temperatures and humidity levels.
Energy efficiency (20%): Based on how much energy each model uses per unit of water removed.
Ease of use (20%): We assessed tank emptying, layout and readability of controls, clarity of instructions, ease of cleaning, and how easy the dehumidifier is to move.
