    How we test

Overall score is the average of 6 scores for stain removal.

We test in a controlled lab environment using plates that are pre-stained. We get the plates from the same company that supplies consumer organisations and dishwasher manufacturers globally. We set the dishwasher to a standard cycle at 60°C and test each detergent 4 times. To see how well the detergents have cleaned the plates, we measure the reflectance with a spectrophotometer before and after cleaning.

    Dishwasher detergent review

    Pros

Ecostore dishwasher tablets clean the dishes well. They are more environmentally friendly than the brands that came out better in your test and that is important to me. The tablets with disposable wrappers are very convenient.

    Cons

Not just with Ecostore brand but all the dishwasher tablets with disposable wrappers. I don't know what happens to the wrapper when it breaks up. Until I find out, I'm tempted to use a pack of ecostore powder instead.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Ecostore tablets excellent

    Pros

I switched to these about three years ago after getting poor results from some of your high scorers - (Finish and Active). The Ecostore tablets produce excellent results mostly - including on rice residue sticking to pots. I've used them in both our really old Simpson dishwasher and new Miele and they're great, so I'm surprised by your results. I like the fact that they have no phosphates, dyes or perfumes and considering the ecological effects of detergents is more critical than ever.

    Cons

None. They are certainly more expensive but my local supermarket (New World) has a good discount on them about once a month so I just make sure I buy them then.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great product

    Pros

I love the Ecostore dishwasher tablets and buy these and the powder pretty much exclusively, depending on which is on special. Cleans the dishes well, is more environmentally friendly than most, makes the glassware sparkle and it's not tested on animals. Makes it a great product IMO.

    Cons

Expensive at full price so only buy on special.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.
