    How we test

Overall score is the average of 6 scores for stain removal.

We test in a controlled lab environment using plates that are pre-stained. We get the plates from the same company that supplies consumer organisations and dishwasher manufacturers globally. We set the dishwasher to a standard cycle at 60°C and test each detergent 4 times. To see how well the detergents have cleaned the plates, we measure the reflectance with a spectrophotometer before and after cleaning.

    Sticks in the dispenser

    Pros

    Nada

    Cons

Sticks in the dispenser despite cleaning the machine to improve water flow. Leaves powdery marks on dishes because the residue in the dispenser contaminates the dishes during the final rinsing cycle. Rinse aid makes no difference. Complained to the manufacturer and will never use again. This product has been cynically cheapened to force people onto their ineffective tablets (Active are much better).

    Recommend it?

No, this product has too many drawbacks.

    Pros

Performance has been pretty good, I've compared with numerous other options for several years. Something that isn't tested in this review: I find that eco products leave my dishwasher with a grimy buildup which really impacts the cleanliness of the dishes within a week or so. This is not evident within one or two washes. Finish products and Active products don't leave me with this issue. I'm a strong eco-believer wherever I can, but I choose to use this powder (using just half the amount they recommend) and get good results.

    Cons

    none that I have found

    Recommend it?

I'm also surprised by Consumer's result on this one.

    Pros

Have also used this product for ever (my dishwasher is a Fisher and Paykel dish drawer) and had no problems - have always had a satisfactory result.

    Cons

No - unless they have changed the formula recently, I can't understand the under performance in your tests.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    I'm surprised

    Pros

We've used this for years, and have had good results -- egg yolk, meat residue and other food stains, all come clean. It might be that our dishwasher(AEG) is the factor that makes the difference. So we'll keep economising by paying half the cost per load.

    Cons

No downsides that I can point out.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.
