Good points

  • Excellent at slicing carrots, grating cheese and chopping breadcrumbs.
  • Very good at kneading pastry (with the dough blade).
  • Good at emulsifying mayonnaise.
  • Excellent at pureeing soup with the blender attachment.
  • Very good at making pesto in the mini-processor bowl.
  • Storage box for some attachments (but bulky to store).
  • Reversible blades.
  • Double-feed chute.
  • Eight speeds.
  • Comes with two different-sized processing bowls.
  • Auto-speed function (selects optimum speed based on attachment).
  • Sealed bowl shaft so less likely to spill and easier to clean.
  • Built-in scales (but just OK accuracy in our test).
  • Comes with 10 blade attachments, including folding tool, decorative slice disc and maximum capacity disc.
  • Comprehensive instructions with recipe book.

But

  • Poor at making curry paste in the mini-processor bowl.
  • Some blades are accessible by hand through the large chute.
  • Vibrates on the bench and jolts with a heavy load.
  • Control dial difficult to grip and pulse.
  • Mini-processor difficult to remove from larger bowl.

How we test

Overall score includes:

Performance (60%): Based on how well the food processors performed across a range of processing tasks: slicing carrots, chopping breadcrumbs, grating cheese, kneading pastry and emulsifying mayonnaise. If a processor has a blender attachment, we puree soup. If it has a mini-processor we make pesto and curry paste. These additional tests don’t contribute to our overall score.

Ease of use (40%): We also looked at how easy it was to use the controls, read the labels, lock and release the bowls and attachments, and clean and store the unit.
