Good points

  • Excellent at chopping breadcrumbs.
  • Very good at kneading pastry (with the dough blade).
  • Good at emulsifying mayonnaise.
  • Excellent at making pesto using the mill attachment.
  • Very good at making curry paste using the mill attachment.
  • Reversible blades.
  • Double feed-chute (large chute has a safety locking system).
  • Two speeds.
  • Comes with five blade attachments.
  • Comprehensive instructions with recipes.

But

  • Just OK at slicing carrots and grating cheese.
  • No storage for attachments.
  • Some blades are accessible by hand through the smaller chute.
  • Little difference between the two speeds.
  • Controls require pressure to use.
  • Continuous pressing of pulse button can be annoying.
  • No grading on processing bowl (only maximum fill level).
  • Extendable chute sits loosely and fiddly to use and clean.
  • Unit can jolt when processing a heavy load.
  • Bowl isn’t sealed so overfilling can lead to spills.

How we test

Overall score includes:

Performance (60%): Based on how well the food processors performed across a range of processing tasks: slicing carrots, chopping breadcrumbs, grating cheese, kneading pastry and emulsifying mayonnaise. If a processor has a blender attachment, we puree soup. If it has a mini-processor we make pesto and curry paste. These additional tests don’t contribute to our overall score.

Ease of use (40%): We also looked at how easy it was to use the controls, read the labels, lock and release the bowls and attachments, and clean and store the unit.
