Design and use (35%) is made up of keyboard and touchpad use, build quality, connections available, heat and noise, audio quality and overall mobility. For hybrids we also test laptop-to-tablet conversion and use as a tablet.
Performance (25%) evaluates a laptop’s speed during a range of processing tasks using benchmarking software, and also includes storage and Wi-Fi speeds.
Battery life (20%) assesses battery consumption under heavy usage. We play an HD-quality video on loop, with screen brightness at 100% and Wi-Fi connected.
Display (20%) includes colour accuracy, brightness and contrast, angles of view and surface reflections.
