Getting odours out (new version of this product)

    Pros

    No scoop, good stain removal.

    Cons

I seem to need to use more than I did with older versions of ecostore products. When I go to hang out the washing it still smells faintly of body odours. This seems to disappear with a day in the sunshine, but am wondering what will happen in winter. Older versions of eco store products didn’t seem to have these issues. Can Consumer please factor odour removal into their testing.

    Recommend it?

Maybe, it depends on what you're after.

    Replaced by Ultrapower 3in1

    Pros

Looks like Ultraclean has been replaced by Ultrapower 3in1. Spec seems the same - grey-water and septic friendly, enzymes for good washing performance, and no optical brighteners. Not easy to find though - had to order from the ecostore website.

I'm curious why Consumer rates Persil higher when it contains optical brighteners (unnecessary) and has a poor environmental score. Cleaning performance isn't everything.

    Cons

    Hard to find!

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Clean clothes vs clean planet?

    Pros

Unlike the 10 other Consumer-recommended laundry detergents this one doesn't have a "poor" environment ranking.
So why would anyone not choose this product - produced in NZ at a factory certified carbon zero - over the big brands, many of which are imported, and none of which are sustainable?

    Cons

I can't quite see why, in the 21st century, a product's ability to get my clothes clean should be seen as more important than its environmental impact. How can those detergents that rated "poor" for environmental safety be given an overall "no obvious bad points" assessment? Please Consumer, look at the big picture.

    Recommend it?

    Yes, I recommend this product.
