All individual stain tests are performed on cotton swatches with the applicable stain applied. A reflectance reading was taken with a spectrophotometer (which measures how much light reflects off the swatches). We applied a set dose of the liquid and spray stain removers on to a swatch and let it sit for 5 minutes. For the powder stain removers, we followed the manufacturer’s instructions on mixing them with a small amount of water to make a paste, which is then applied to the swatch. We then used a front-loader washing machine on a cold cycle to wash the swatches with detergent as normal. Each detergent was tested on 4 swatches of each stain. After washing, we measured the reflectance of the swatches and compared the result to the initial reflectance to determine how well the stain was removed or disguised.

Product use: 6 months or more
Pros:
It removes most stains well if treated quickly. Baby poo and bloodstains both dissolve into the frothy enzymatic reaction this product causes!
Cons:
Not so great at treating old stains.
