Overall score comprises performance (50%) and ease of use (50%).
Performance is based on horizontal and vertical trimming and long-grass cutting.
Ease of use is assessed on handle comfort, shaft length, weight, balance, cutting visibility, controls, vibration, starting, line-feed effectiveness and ease of re-spooling.
Price is from a September 2017 survey.
We recommend petrol trimmers scoring above 85% overall. While the performance and ease-of-use of the best petrol trimmers in our tests has hovered at or above this level for a few years, battery-electric models continue to improve year on year.
We raised the bar for the performance of battery-powered trimmers to 80% after a batch of 7 cordless models returned impressive performance in our 2017 test.

Product use: 1 month or less
Didn't work from first use and couldn't be fixed .
Had to wait a week to get one as the only one they had in store wasn't working properly (That should have been an alarm for me). First time I used it for 15 minutes it had half the power of the last really cheap unknown brand weedeater I had and it really struggled to just cut some grass. The 2nd time I tried to use it it wouldn't even start. Returned to store to get fixed or replaced and after a week was told they couldn't work out the problem with it so hadn't fixed it but also didn't offer to replace with another working one. DON'T BUY ONE!!!
No, this product has too many drawbacks.

Product use: 1 - 3 months
Pretty good cutting ability
No shoulder strap
A very slightly more powerful engine would be better
Yes, I recommend this product.

See my comments on the Stihl FS-38
The fuel tank layout seems very similar to my Stihl FS-38. Does the fuel pick up in the tank allow the line trimmer to be used as a vertical edge trimmer around paths and garden beds etc. (cutting head to my left side, motor to my right, cutting disc vertcal.)
