Not doing quite as well as the Kmart hard case, this inexpensive soft case is still good enough to recommend. It came through our lift and drop test undamaged, had very good puncture resistance and was OK at keeping water out. We thought it was very easy to move and carry, with a very comfortable handle. At 2.3kg it was one of the heaviest soft cases. Its dimensions meant it would only meet Air New Zealand carry-on bag limits, not Jetstar’s. For an inexpensive model, it still came with a side handle, and external and internal pockets. You’d need to supply a lock to secure the zip though.
Our overall assessment comprises 50% performance (lift/drop, puncture and rain testing) and 50% ease of use.
