We’ve tested standard microwaves, as well as models that grill.
Overall score includes:
Cooking performance (70%)
Based on cooking broccoli, defrosting mince and a whole chicken, and reheating quiche. If models have a grill we also grill toast.
Ease of use (30%)
We check how easy it is to use the controls, see through the door during cooking and how easy the microwave is to clean.
Running costs ($/year)
Are calculated on reheating a plated meal once a day (with electricity costs at 26¢/kWh).
Price is from a July 2020 survey.
