How we test

Overall score includes:

  • Stain removal (50%)
  • Ease of fill and use (30%)
  • Floor wetness (20%)

Prices are from a February 2015 survey.

Stain removal

We assessed stain removal using a large sheet of vinyl with everyday stains like coffee, mustard, red wine, shoe polish, and soy and tomato sauces. We left these stains to dry overnight and then attempted to clean them with the steam mops.
