Extended review

This unit cleaned up in our performance assessment, washing our test footpath at a rate of 0.63m²/minute, quicker than any other blaster in our round-up. We achieved this top cleaning speed with the excellent rotary action nozzle, but there are lots of other attachments: a variable power jet, high-pressure needle gun and a low-pressure wash brush designed for cars. It also features a patio/balcony scrubber that performs admirably on smooth surfaces with minimal mess or blowback.

We found it very easy to use. You get a generous 8.1m of hose, it’s relatively lightweight (6kg), and has minimal lance vibration. The handle is comfortable and the trigger is ergonomic and easy to operate. The only downsides are the noise level (like most ’blasters), a handle that is too short for taller users to wheel comfortably, and wheels are a little stiff.

Note: this is a medium-level domestic waterblaster, so you should only use it for an hour or so before giving it a rest for 20 minutes. If you need to blast for long periods regularly, a model with a heavier duty pump like the Karcher K4 Premium is a better bet.

How we test

Overall score is based on:

Performance (60%)
Assesses concrete-cleaning performance 1 metre above ground and away from the waterblaster.

Ease of use (40%)
Assesses manoeuvring, vibration, trigger comfort and ease of cleaning with the blaster.
Penalties apply for connection issues between lance and attachments.

Noise is measured 1 metre above ground and 1 metre away from the waterblaster.

Price is based on a February 2018 survey.

Note: We changed our test method so these results replace last year's assessment. The Nilfisk Compact Series Waterblaster C120.7-6 PCAD was tested under a different assessment method in 2017. The performance score has been adjusted.
