How we test

How we test

Our table is based on data from woodburner manufacturers. Testing for emissions, efficiency and power output using AS/NZS 4012/4013 was carried out by an independent lab in New Zealand.

The heat output figure shown understates what you could expect in your home - especially for burners with a high thermal mass (ie heavy). This is related to the AS/NZS compliance test method. Unfortunately this is the only consistent heat output figure that is available for all burners. See the "Heat output" section for more information.

Where available, we've also included the NZHHA output results. These results reflect the maximum you could achieve in your home.

Price is from the manufacturers’ survey and is without a flue kit.
