    How we test

Testing for emissions, efficiency and power output using AS/NZS 4012/4013 was carried out by an independent lab in New Zealand.

We analyse data from National Environmental Standards (NES) testing to generate scores out of 10 for emissions and efficiency, along with an overall score. This gives us a clear picture of the performance, features and specifications for almost every model on the market.

Where available, we've also included the NZHHA output results. These results reflect the absolute maximum heat output you could achieve in your home.

Price is from the manufacturers’ survey and is without a flue kit unless stated otherwise.

    Overall score includes:
    Efficiency (60%)
    Emissions (40%)

Great Performer and Looks the Part!

We have owned our Studio fire for over ten years and wouldn't have anything else. Very compact but great performance. Several of our friends and relations have bought after seeing ours operating.

Being a small firebox you have to be sure to get firewood sized accordingly. Otherwise no downsize at all.

      Recommend it?

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Great fire!

We've given our studio fire lots of heavy use for ten years and it's still going strong! Easy to get going and light on fuel. Visually it's attractive & well proportioned.
Often used to cook dinner during a power cut or gas bottle becomes empty.

      None really

Produces more heat than we thought

Small footprint, unobtrusive, light on fuel - can burn at maximum performance without chewing through fuel. We were sceptical when our architect specified such a small heater for a 120 m2 house in Central Otago, but it's sufficient except for the furthest bedrooms (we have roof insulation but not double glazing). We're thinking of a small heat pump at that far end. A bigger woodburner would entail a means of transferring the heat.

No cons - haven't come across a wood burner we'd rather have.

      Recommend it?

      Yes, I recommend this product.
