Product repairability is a growing concern for consumers as not being able to repair something that breaks can shorten the lifetime of a product.
For stick vacuums, it’s particularly important as the batteries are often the first thing to die.
If a replacement can’t be fitted or sourced, then the cordless vacuum is effectively dead and off to the tip.
Last year, we began assessing the repairability of stick vacuums. We looked at documentation listing the parts that can be replaced and the availability of those parts. The parts we looked at included batteries, chargers, filters, vacuum heads, bins and wands. See the full explanation of our assessment in Breaking bad: stick vacuum repairability.
For the most part, all models from a single stick vacuum brand received a similar ranking in our repairability assessment. This allows us to look at their repairability at the brand level.
