Two telcos are rated by New Zealanders as the best to have a mobile phone connection with.
One of them won’t be a surprise – it always scores well in our annual survey. The other is a brand you’re more likely to think of as a power company.

Worst mobile providers
The two big mobile providers – Spark and One NZ – were both at the bottom of the table in our survey.
Spark’s satisfaction score was 63% and One NZ’s was 62%. They both scored below the industry average for all the attributes we ask about, including customer service and customer support.

About our survey
Our data is from a nationally representative online survey of 1,921 New Zealanders, aged 18 years and older, carried out in August 2025.
Satisfaction ratings show the proportion of respondents who scored their provider 8, 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied).
Providers with fewer than 30 responses are not shown.
Settling disputes
If you have an issue with a phone or internet provider and haven’t been able to resolve it with the company, you can take your case to the Telecommunications Dispute Resolution service.
