The results are in – the most reliable corded, stick and robot vacuums, with the most satisfied customers, according to New Zealanders.

Below, you’ll see which brands people love and which they wish they’d left on the shelf. To see how different models performed in our test lab, visit our corded vacuum, stick vacuum and robot vacuum review pages.
About our reliability and satisfaction survey
We surveyed nearly 9,000 New Zealanders and asked them, among other things, which products they’d bought in the past 5 years, what faults they’d experienced, how satisfied they were, and how likely they were to buy from that brand again.
We’ve analysed the data and presented the results as reliability and satisfaction ratings, from lowest to highest. The highest-rated brands get our People’s Choice award, an indication of many satisfied customers.
The least reliable and satisfying brands
Corded vacuum cleaners
If you still prefer the unlimited runtime of a corded vacuum, then you should probably avoid getting an Electrolux or Living & Co (The Warehouse) model, both brands receiving a lowest rating for satisfaction in our survey.
Stick vacuum cleaners
A decent cordless battery vacuum can often cost over twice the price of a corded one, so choosing the right brand is paramount. Our survey reported lowest satisfaction for Kmart cordless vacuums, proving that getting a bargain vac does not necessarily lead to happiness.
Robot vacuum cleaners
There’s no shortage of robot vacuums on the market, but we only have enough survey responses to rate three brands with confidence. Of these, we found iRobot had low reliability and brand satisfaction.
