The results are in – the most reliable dishwashers, cooktops and rangehoods, with the most satisfied customers, according to New Zealanders.

Below, you’ll see which brands people love and which they wish they’d left on the shelf. To see how different models performed in our test lab, visit our dishwasher, cooktop and rangehood review pages.
About our reliability and satisfaction survey
We surveyed nearly 9,000 New Zealanders and asked them, among other things, which products they’d bought in the past 5 years, what faults they’d experienced, how satisfied they were, and how likely they were to buy from that brand again.
We’ve analysed the data and presented the results as reliability and satisfaction ratings, from lowest to highest. The highest-rated brands get our People’s Choice award, an indication of many satisfied customers.
The least reliable and satisfying brands
Dishwashers
If you don’t want egg on your face (or plates), then you’d be best to avoid Haier dishwashers, as they received a lowest rating for satisfaction, combined with a low reliability score, too.
Cooktops
Our respondents were most unhappy with Midea and Beko cooktops, with less than 50% likely to buy from those brands again.
Rangehoods
Award rangehoods received a low reliability rating, and owners of Robinhood and Midea hoods weren’t particularly satisfied with their purchases, with less than 50% of Midea owners saying they’d buy the brand again.
