Optical brighteners in laundry products
Pros

Nothing, I don't use it. I use washing soda and ecostore ultra sensitive laundry soaker or borax, with vinegar in the fabric softener bowl. All good (I don't have muddy rugby clothes to wash). No probs. Plumber said mine was the cleanest washing machine he'd ever seen.

Cons

From Ecostore website, under heading 'Nasties'. Optical brighteners are a type of chemical used to enhance the white or bright appearance of fabrics.Because optical brighteners are designed to stick to clothes, they end up being in contact with our skin for prolonged periods of time. While currently there's limited evidence that optical brighteners in laundry detergents pose a risk to human health, they're known to be made from non-renewable petrochemicals and can be slow to biodegrade - both of which have environmental consequences. We prefer to leave them out of our products.

Recommend it?

No, this product has too many drawbacks.
