  • How we test

To make our recommended list, saucepans must cook very evenly and score well overall.

Overall score breakdown

Performance

We cook scrambled eggs in each saucepan to assess the evenness of cooking, and we record any food sticking. We also time how long it takes to boil 1L of water.

Ease of use

We consider the balance and weight of each saucepan, and how comfortable the handle is, including resistance to heat. We assess how easy they each are to pour from without dripping – some have an additional D-shaped handle for extra support. We also check how easy they are to clean.
