Checking if you could cut your power bill by switching to another power company has got easier with the relaunch of our Powerswitch website.
The revamped powerswitch.org.nz site is now simpler to use on mobile phones and tablets. The questionnaire assessing your power use has also been refined, making it faster to complete. Once you’ve entered your information, Powerswitch shows you the cheapest energy deals you can get.
Powerswitch has thousands of energy plans, more than other switching websites.
You can save your details on the site, which means you can easily check you’re still getting the best price.
Switching to a cheaper retailer can also help keep pressure on energy retailers to offer better prices. About 111,000 New Zealanders switched power companies this winter, with Electric Kiwi, Flick and Mercury gaining more than 2000 customers each. Genesis lost the most customers — 6341 — though it remains the largest residential retailer with 26% market share.
