Energy Direct NZ customers will be switched to Trustpower over the coming weeks as the energy brand is closing.

The Whanganui-based retailer, which provides gas and electricity, will merge with parent-company Trustpower and is expected to close in October. Energy Direct NZ’s office will remain open while customers are switched.
Trustpower has guaranteed Energy Direct NZ customers will have prices fixed for at least the next 12 months. Existing customers do not need to do anything. Trustpower said customers would be notified when the switch was complete.
Trustpower bought Energy Direct NZ from Whanganui District Council in 2013 and operated it as a separate entity. From 2013 to 2015, it ranked in the top three for customer satisfaction in Consumer NZ’s annual energy provider survey.
